6 Things We Can Do Right Now to Reverse Global Warming

- Change the US Postal Service delivery to every-other-day, three days to one set of customers, the other three days to the remaining customers. This will save millions of gallons of gasoline every day, and the commensurate greenhouse gasses. The level of service will not be impacted in any perceptible measure.
- Reprogram every secondary-street traffic light to alternating stop/caution during non-rush-hours. I live in a typical suburban US area. And I, along with countless neighbors, frequently sit waiting at traffic lights that have no cross traffic. By changing the lights — they are virtually all computer controlled now — so that one direction is flashing red and the other flashing yellow, we can save millions of gallons of gasoline and tons of greenhouse gasses. In busier areas the red and yellow directions could alternate on a timed basis.
- Provide aggressive (100%) tax incentives to convert recently-empty office buildings to residences. Covid has opened our eyes to many things, among them the fact that commuting to white-collar jobs is idiotic, archaic, wasteful, and polluting. (Is it nice to see co-workers in an office? Yes. Is it nice to support urban restaurants? Those are separate matters and hybrid solutions will ultimately win out as they always do.) More people will get to enjoy those spectacular cityscape views previously reserved only for the magazine models, and no carbon will be spewed getting to nearby offices that are still open.
- Create a new rail system, mostly solar powered, for non-urgent commercial goods. More details soon.
- Recommit to nuclear power. More details soon.
- Radically reduce our population, returning to two billion. If we don’t do this, Mother Nature will do it for us; look at her work recently .More details soon.
